Fern Hill Barn is one of those venues that immediately feels different. Set high on a hill in Spencer, it offers wide, open views that you just don’t find anywhere else in the area. You get that sense of space and openness, with rolling hills and greenery all around, yet you’re still close to major highways and nearby hotels. It feels secluded without being inconvenient, which is a rare combination.
The property itself flows beautifully, with both indoor and outdoor options that work well for a range of wedding styles and guest counts. The outdoor ceremony area feels tucked away and private, surrounded by trees and vines, and the gazebo sits naturally within the landscape rather than feeling overly staged. There are also quiet pockets around the grounds that make wonderful photo locations, including a second gazebo and vine-covered walkways that feel romantic without trying too hard.
What I love most about Fern Hill Barn is that it gives couples that “away from it all” feeling, without actually being far from home. It’s scenic, peaceful, and incredibly versatile. A solid choice for couples who want nature, views, and ease all in one place.

The Bridal Suite and Day Spa is separate from the main barn. It is the perfect place to get ready and relax before your wedding.
The Barn has an indoor banquet room, perfect for a cocktail hour or an indoor wedding ceremony. It can accommodate 150 guests. It is full of country charm with a double sided fieldstone fireplace, an oak bar, red maple flooring, wood beams, and elegant chandeliers.
The elegant white Tent is lit with delicate white lights. The tent can accommodate 250 guests and is perfect for an in season wedding. If the weather is not looking so great, Fern Hill Barn offers side enclosures and heaters at no charge. Your ceremony rain plan can be under the tent – just like Nina and Glenn and Caitlin and Tom.
Ceremonies can take place outdoors at the Pavilion overlooking the beautiful hills and gardens. See Tiffany & Darren’s summer wedding. Or in the Field overlooking the rolling hills of central Massachusetts, just like Sabina & Matt’s Spring wedding.
Fern Hill Barn has many options for photos all close by. Their gardens are meticulously maintained and the property is surrounded by fields and views of the rolling hills. The photography options are endless!
